Right to Skate's Programs
Afghan Girl's Skate Team
With a founding number of 18 new immigrant girls and women, this skate team is the definition of resilience and community bonds.
In partnership with the Open Door Society, Right to Skate provides the skateboards, some instruction, and facilitated seed money.
Indigenous Youth Programs
Right to Skate has partnered with Saskatoon organizations White Buffalo Youth Lodge, EGADZ, Dreambrokers, The Pleasant Hill Community Association, Str8 Up, Boy and Girls Club, St. Francis Cree School, Westmount School (Metis) , and the Yorkton Tribal Council to bring skateboard programming to Indigenous communities. We are looking to expand our rural reach, get in touch!
Women & Queer Skate Meetups
We host weekly meetups for girls, women, and 2sLGBTQ identifying individuals. We promote an inclusive skate scene in Saskatoon, and are very welcoming of beginners! There is free gear to borrow, and friendships to be made. Rollerskates welcome! See our blog or social media for the most recent schedule.
Newcomer Canadians
In partnership with the Open Door Society, Right to Skate hosts free skateboard lessons to new immigrant and refugee youth. Please get in touch with the Open Door Society for availability and registration!
Saskatoon Skateboard Lessons and Camps
We offer low-cost or pay-what-you can skateboard lessons for anyone in Saskatoon. These all-ages classes are perfect for learning how to skateboard. Help kids get active and support a local non-profit. All skate lesson info can be found on the skate lessons tab at the top of the page.
Rural Saskatchewan
We have hosted skateboard seminars and assisted local skateboard communities in Langham, Elbow, Nipawin, Melfort, Humboldt, and more. We have a special relationship with the Davidson Skatepark Commitee, who host numerous skateboard initiatives in their town, including a project with the FASD network and foster homes
Skateboard Scholarships
The Eli Kerslake Memorial Skate Scholarship
offers free skateboard gear and lessons to youth from low-income families or those facing other barriers to access. We have given away 200+ to date. Learn more.
